Possible Break

It seems that yesterday I was unable to walk. I fell twice and I think I have possibly broken my wrist. I go to the doctor today at 1:00 to find out.

I really hope it isn't because this is really making things difficult. I am right handed and it is my right wrist that is hurt.

Whatever it is whether broken or severely sprained, I am going to have to take a break from quilting and blogging until it is healed.

I will keep you up to date. So long for now.

Betty's Garden

The last project that I am working on right now is Betty's Garden. It is a beautiful quilt pattern of flowers that are all pieced. I have chosen to use batiks for this quilt and it is just stunning. While uploading the pictures onto my computer I noticed that I made one of the blocks wrong but I will leave it the way it is and call it artistic freedom. LOL!! Here are the blocks that are done. I still have two more the piece and then I will start on the sashing and assemble the top.

Asters

Cactus Flower

Crocus

Forget Me Not

Lily

Mother's Roses

Peony

Rosebud

Roses

Sunflower

Well that is all for now. As soon as I get the last two blocks made I will get them posted.

Have a great weekend.

Block of the Month.

Back when I first started making quilts 5 years ago I enrolled in a Block of the Month. We as you can guess I never finished it. I decided a couple of weeks ago to pull it out and work on it. Here are the blocks so far. Now a side note, because I was so new to quilting the blocks are not pieced that well. There are cut off points and other problems but it was one of my first projects.

Block 1

Block 2

Block 3

Block 4

Block 5

Block 6

Block 7

That is all the blocks I have completed for now. I will continue to work on this quilt and post more later.

New Sylvia's Bridal Quilt Blocks

I have been busy lately working on several projects. Here are my latest blocks for the Sylvia Bridal Quilt Sampler.

This is the Barrister's block.

Bear's Paw

Big T

Bow Tie

Boy's Nonsense

Bright Hopes

Card Trick

Well that is all for now. I don't know when I will get to work on this quilt again as I will be house sitting this week and I will not be home with my sewing machine. I have started a new project and that is an applique quilt. I have decided to make Millie's Garden by Piece O' Cake. I am new to applique but so far I am doing well.
Check out the next couple of posts for some other projects I have been working on.

Slow Progress Made

I have made slow progress on the latest blocks. I had to remake a couple of them because they just did not turn out right. There are still a couple of flaws but I am willing to live with them. I have decided to continue with picking the easier blocks and the foundation blocks to piece first and then I will work my way to the templates and applique blocks. For some reason I am having difficulty with the templates. I will get there though.

Block 6 is the Anvil block.

Block 7 is the Arizone block. This block caused me a lot of grief. I ended up drafting it in EQ6 and turning it into a foundation pieced block.

Block 8 is Aunt Sukey's Choice.

Block 9 is Autumn Leaf. So far this is my favorite block. It uses my favorite piece of fabric from my stash. I have used this fabric in two other quilts now. It is absolutely stunning with all the color variations.

Block 10 is Bachelor's Puzzle.

Blocks 3, 4 and 5

Here are blocks 3 (54-40 or Fight), 4 (Album 1) and 5 (Amethyst). Block 3 was really difficult. For some reason it took me three tries to get it to look right, but I loved the challenge.

Blocks 1 and 2

This block 1 (Birds in the air) of Sylvia's Bridal Quilt (SBQ). It was fairly easily. I really enjoyed going through all my batiks and picking the fabric.

This is block 2 (Album 2). As you can tell I started with the easier blocks first. I am a little rusty because I have not been able to sew for the last 6 months but I am slowly working the kinks out.

Sylvia's Bridal Quilt Sampler

I have not posted anything in a really long time because I did not know what I wanted to write but now I know.

I have been reading the Elm Creek Quilt Series by Jennifer Chiaverini the last few weeks. It is a charming series about friendship, life's hardships and how quilting tie them all to each other. The books have inspired me to start quilting again. I have not worked on a quilt in almost 6 months.

In one of the books Sylvia gets married at the age of 85 and her friends secretly make her and Andrew a quilt as a wedding gift. They elicit the help of all their fellow quilters to make the blocks. I recently purchased the pattern book for this quilt and I have decided to make the quilt. I excited to finally have inspiration.

I am going to make this quilt out of all the batik fabrics that I have and the background fabric will be cream.

The first block I made went together fairly simple. The second block I had to rip out and I am going to finish it tonight. I will try to post pictures of each block as I finish them so I have to catch up on the pictures tonight or this weekend.

Life right now is pretty crazy but when I quilt I can put all of it behind me on the shelf and not worry about anything. I am really looking forward to the quiet time in my quilt room.

Stay tuned for pictures and more posts later.
